Backend Engineer (Java/Kotlin, Web Platform)

We’re looking for a Backend Engineer to join the core development team and work closely with a frontend engineer on building the company’s web-based management interface.

What you’ll do

• Develop and maintain backend APIs using Java and Kotlin.
• Design and implement REST endpoints that integrate directly with a React/Angular-based frontend.
• Work on backend logic that converts Terraform scripts so it deploys to another cloud environment instead of the original one (to AWS instead of GCP or vice versa).
• Handle data serialization, authentication, and business logic within a single monolithic service (no microservices).
• Collaborate closely with frontend developers to ensure seamless API integration and high performance.
• Write clean, maintainable, and testable code.

Requirements

• 8+ years of backend development experience.
• Strong knowledge of Java and experience with non-standard Java frameworks (Ktor, Quarkus, Micronaut).
• Exposure to Kotlin or willingness to learn.
• Experience building and maintaining RESTful APIs for web applications.
• Solid understanding of HTTP, JSON, and web architecture fundamentals.
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and Infrastructure-as-Code tools like Terraform.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with frontend engineers.
• English — Upper-Intermediate or better.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with functional programming styles (Http4k or similar).
• Interest in platform engineering or SaaS delivery automation.
