We are looking for a strategic, execution-driven VP of Data to lead data, BI,
and AI initiatives across retail and eCommerce for one of our key customers. You’ll own our data platform, drive insight delivery across business units, and help transition the company toward predictive, real-time decision-making.
This is a high-impact executive role for someone who can lead data strategy while
building a modern, scalable, and business-aligned data operation.
What You’ll Do:

About the Role
Uptarget is seeking a Vice President of Data to define and lead our company-wide
data strategy across analytics, BI, engineering, and emerging AI/ML capabilities. This
executive role is central to transforming our data ecosystem to better support business
growth, operational efficiency, and customer experience—across both retail and
digital channels.
You will oversee all data infrastructure, team development, and strategic partnerships
that enable us to transition from reactive reporting to predictive, insight-driven
decision-making. This is a hands-on leadership position that requires technical depth,
cross-functional collaboration, and a deep understanding of how data can generate
measurable value.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Innovation
— Define and lead our customer’s enterprise-wide data vision, architecture, and
roadmap
— Partner with
decision-making across retail, eCommerce, logistics, marketing, operations,
and finance
— Lead the evolution from legacy systems to a modern, scalable data platform
with structured governance, security, and compliance
BI, Analytics & AI Enablement
— Ensure the delivery of accurate, timely, and actionable insights via dashboards
and reporting tools (currently Qlik)
— Promote self-service analytics and data literacy across departments
— Identify and drive AI/ML initiatives to support forecasting, personalization,
marketing automation, and operational optimization
Infrastructure, Quality & Governance
— Oversee data architecture and pipelines (currently Azure Synapse; open to
modernizing)
— Implement scalable best practices for data governance, security, compliance
(e.g. ISO 27001, GDPR)
— Ensure high availability, accuracy, and accessibility of data for all business
functions
Team Development & Operations
— Lead and expand teams across data engineering, BI, and analytics, fostering
excellence, innovation, and accountability
— Provide mentorship and career growth for analysts, engineers, and scientists
— Manage resources, tools, and budget for data initiatives
Qualifications
— 8+ years in data/analytics leadership roles, ideally in retail, CPG, or B2C
environments
— Deep expertise in data infrastructure, BI platforms (Qlik, Power BI, etc.), and
cloud architecture (Azure preferred)
— Proven success in transforming business through data—driving revenue,
savings, or operational scale
— Strong track record of cross-functional leadership and communication at the
executive level
— Hands-on understanding of data modeling, warehousing, ELT/ETL, and
governance frameworks
— Bachelor’s degree in a technical or analytical field; Master’s preferred
