Data Architect with relocation to Abu Dhabi, UAE for 8 months

About the project:

The Ministry of Transport of Abu Dhabi is undergoing a large-scale digital transformation following the consolidation of several government departments. Each department currently operates independently with separate systems and fragmented data management processes.

This program aims to establish a unified data governance and integration strategy, rationalize data across multiple applications, and enable consistent, accurate, and transparent data management practices across the organization.

About the role:

As a Solution Architect, you will play a key role in defining and implementing the ministry’s enterprise data governance framework. You’ll work closely with stakeholders across various departments to align data ownership, quality standards, and governance processes, ensuring the organization moves toward a centralized, data-driven ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and implement a comprehensive data governance framework covering data quality, lineage, stewardship, and lifecycle management.
• Define data standards, policies, and operating models to ensure consistent practices across all departments.
• Lead efforts to integrate and rationalize disparate data sources and applications inherited from multiple departments.
• Collaborate with enterprise architects, business owners, and IT teams to develop a unified data architecture and metadata strategy.
• Establish data ownership and stewardship roles, defining accountability across business units.
• Support the implementation of data cataloging and master data management (MDM)solutions.
• Identify and resolve data duplication, inconsistency, and compliance issues across the organization.
• Contribute to the development of KPIs and metrics to measure data governance maturity and progress.
• Promote a data-driven culture through workshops, documentation, and stakeholder engagement.

Requirements:

• Proven experience (5+ years) as a Data Architect
• Strong background in data governance frameworks (e.g., DAMA, DCAM) and enterprise data managementprinciples.
• Hands-on experience with data cataloging, metadata management, MDM, and data quality tools (e.g., Collibra, Informatica, Alation, Talend, etc.).
• Understanding of data integration, APIs, and cloud data platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP).
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills to align diverse government entities.
• Fluency in English is mandatory;
• Willingness to work on-site in Abu Dhabi during the initial phase of the program.
