The product we are working on is one of TOP-3 navigation systems, complex web-services and other solutions related to it. The web and mobile apps handle information at massive scale and extend well beyond the search giving people and companies a lot of new useful options.

As an Android Software Engineer, you will design, develop, and implement new UI templates for the core Android Car App Library (CAL). Your work will directly enable the core application team to build new features on the Android Auto platform.

Responsibilities:

• Library Development: Write, test, and maintain high-quality, reusable code for new UI templates within the Android Car App Library (CAL).
• Requirements Analysis: Analyze feature requests from the product and engineering teams and translate these into technical requirements for new, generalized CAL templates.
• Platform Collaboration: Work with the CAL team members and core developers on API design, implementation, and code reviews to ensure contributions align with the library’s architecture and quality standards.
• Technical Support: Provide technical support to the development team as they integrate the new templates.
• Compliance: Ensure all new templates adhere to Android Auto’s driver-distraction and design guidelines.

Requirements:

• 3-4+ years of experience with native Android application development
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Proficiency with the Android SDK, component lifecycles, and UI development.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to write clean, abstract, and maintainable code.
• Strong communication skills for collaboration with geographically distributed teams.
• Fluency in English

Nice to have:

• Direct experience with the Android Auto Car App Library (CAL)
• Experience working on large-scale, consumer-facing applications.
• Familiarity with API design principles.
• Familiarity with Kotlin and Jetpack Compose
