Swarmer is a Ukrainian defense technology company building AI-powered coordination software for unmanned systems. We don’t manufacture drones. We build the intelligence layer that enables them to operate together reliably in contested environments. Our software was born from necessity and tested on the battlefield.

Senior Robotics & Autonomy Engineer (Individual drone autonomy) (вакансія неактивна)

Київ, Варшава (Польща)

Swarmer is a Vendor-Agnostic Autonomy for Coordinated Robots. We develop AI-managed collaborative autonomy to make teams of connected drones and autonomous systems smart, efficient, and self-improving over time.

ROLE OVERVIEW:

We are looking for a Senior Robotics & Autonomy Engineer to design, develop, and optimize the core autonomy and perception systems powering our multi-vendor drone platform. You will work at the intersection of robotics, computer vision, and embedded systems — ensuring our autonomous drones operate reliably and intelligently in the most demanding environments.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

  • On the high-level, you will be focused on the individual drone algorithms in the real battlefield conditions:
    • Develop new features in core tech domains (navigation / drone control / sensor fusion / photogrammetry / etc.).
    • Evolve existing algorithms to new challenges (new types of sensors, path planning with additional restrictions, etc.).
    • Adapt R&D algorithms to the product-ready solution (identify bottlenecks, handle edge cases in a smooth way, etc.)
    • Optimizations (processing time, consumption, data flow, etc.)
  • It is expected that you will handle testfield tests for the owned features or will have a possibility to prepare local hardware setup and make the corresponding tests.
  • You will be mostly focused on onboard autonomy on the companion computer (real-time, resource-constrained).

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

  • 3+ years in robotics or autonomy engineering (UAVs, mobile robots, or robotic arms).
  • Proficiency in Python on Linux. Experience with embedded systems and C / C++ would be great.
  • Solid grounding in linear algebra, control theory, probability, and numerical methods.
  • Hands-on experience with algorithms.
  • At least basic experience with electronics and photogrammetry or CV is a must.
  • Fluent Ukrainian and competent English (B2 or higher).

WE OFFER:

  • A chance to shape the core autonomy and perception systems at the heart of Ukraine’s defense tech ecosystem and its international expansion.
  • Direct impact in a high-stakes industry where your engineering decisions carry real-world consequences.
  • Professional growth through hands-on work with advanced UAV technologies and exposure to international best practices in autonomy, CV, and ML.
  • Competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package (insurance, paid sick leave, 20 paid days off per year).
  • Benefits of the defense sector (reservation and related benefits).
  • Flexible remote work options (possibility to commute to the office if needed is essential).

HOW’S THE HIRING PROCESS GOING:

✔️ Intro Call with TA Specialist → ✔️ Technical Interview → ✔️ Management Interview → ✔️ Final interview → ✔️ Security check →✔️ Offer

Ready to Apply?

If you’re excited about solving complex challenges and eager to contribute to the future of collaborative autonomy, we’d love to hear from you!
