Platform Engineer/DevOps Engineer (Hungary, Bulgaria, Albania, Romania)

Introduction

Kubernetes-native OpenStack Control Planes across a multi-cluster topology (Management, Control Plane, Hypervisor, Storage). The platform is built around a family of Kubernetes operators: Keystone, Glance, and further OpenStack services, following a shared reconciler pattern (Operator SDK, controller-runtime, Kubebuilder), orchestrated by the c5c3-operator and delivered via GitOps (FluxCD). We are looking for a Platform Engineer to help build, operate and scale this operator-based platform, working closely with architects to improve E2E testing and to keep it well-documented.

Hybrid work: working from the office twice a week.

Tasks and Responsibilities

• Build, maintain and improve Kubernetes-native platform components (C5C3) and reusable operator automations
• Run Kubernetes operators and implement GitOps delivery patterns with FluxCD
• Write requirements and review translated technical designs, implementation tasks and documentation
• Ensure compliance with security, operational, architecture and quality standards
• Create and maintain technical documentation, onboarding material and implementation guidelines
• Support troubleshooting, incident analysis and continuous platform improvement
• Improve onboarding of new operators (e.g. Keystone, Horizon, Glance) onto the shared reconciler scaffolding
• Provide AI guidance on Kubernetes operator patterns, CRD design, FluxCD-based GitOps and OpenStack control-plane operations

Recommended Skills

• 8+ years of experience in platform engineering, cloud engineering, DevOps or site reliability engineering
• Hands-on experience with Kubernetes and cloud-native platform technologies
• Practical experience building Kubernetes operators/controllers (Operator SDK, controller-runtime, Kubebuilder, CRDs, sub-reconciler patterns, webhooks, finalisers)
• Experience with Kubernetes-native testing frameworks (envtest, Chainsaw E2E, Tempest, Chaos Mesh)
• Experience with GitOps concepts and tools (FluxCD and Git-based delivery workflows)
• Good knowledge of at least one major cloud provider and its Kubernetes platform
• Programming or scripting experience, preferably with Go
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and GitHub Actions-based development workflows
• Understanding of security-by-design, least privilege, compliance requirements and secure software delivery
• Ability to write clear technical documentation in Markdown or similar formats
• Strong communication skills in English

• Knowledge of OpenStack services and architecture
• Experience with secrets management and secure credential rotation (e.g. OpenBao, External Secrets Operator)
• Experience contributing to open-source projects or reusable engineering frameworks
