Responsibilities:

• Develop new products (30%)
o Participate in, and provide feedback for, technical design sessions
o Create technical feature documentation describing architecture, workflow, behavior, and design specifications
o Build software to the design specifications provided by other Products Group team members
o Write scalable, maintainable, secure code in JavaScript, PHP, TypeScript, and/or any other programming language used in Sugar products
o Craft performant SQL queries against MySQL, Oracle, MS SQL, and IBM DB2
o Provide peer feedback in the way of code reviews, smoke tests, and manual regression tests
• Troubleshoot and fix escalated product issues (30%)
o Perform root cause analysis on bugs and escalations
o Create safe, minimally invasive fixes for existing product issues
o Amend all relevant tests for areas of the product that have been modified
o Respond quickly to high priority product issues
• Develop test automation according to QA test plans (20%)
o Engineer sensible, performant unit tests, integration tests, and end to end tests
o Work with QA engineers to implement automation of manual test plans
o Maintain test infrastructure, including keeping dependent libraries up to date
• Participate in Scrum ceremonies (10%)
o Attend and provide feedback in daily scrum stand up meetings
o Participate in sprint retrospectives, grooming meetings, and sprint planning meetings
o Provide reasonable estimates of expected effort for any work assigned
o As needed, lead daily scrum meetings
• Present product demonstrations (5%)
o Demonstrate sprint accomplishments at team meetings
o Demonstrate and present sprint accomplishments at Sprint Reviews
• Provide guidance and advice to other organizations (5%)
o Review and respond to questions posted in the Sugar communities
o Review and respond to inquiries made on various internal communication channels

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience with enterprise software development and/or distributed SaaS systems

• 3+ years of practical Object Oriented Programming (PHP)

• 3+ years of JavaScript programming experience

• 3+ years of experience with emerging languages and technologies

• Proven ability to develop testable components

• Experience with microservices, containers, and pipelines is a plus

• Knowledge of and experience with creating and consuming RESTful APIs

• Knowledge of, and experience with Advanced SQL and NoSQL data stores

• Experience in Agile software development methodologies

• Experience with Git, Jira, Jenkins and other agile tools a plus

• Good communication skills across a global cross-functional audience

• Intermediate+ English level.
